On December 13, both Jeff and I completed the circle. We had our last joint presentation for the season and the year where it all officially took off four months earlier… at Pages for All Ages! It was a kick to be there and to have the chance to sign copies of his books and my CDs!!! Thank you all for your support throughout 2008!!!
On Saturday, November 29, Jeff and I were happy to deliver some poetry and music to our friends from Cleveland, OH. Before the performance Jeff actually toured me around the neighborhoods where he grew up, and it was awesome to get to know a bit of the city! We then performed at Beth-Joseph Booksellers and I was happy to have Larry Galleta, a very talented local musician, to join me for the musical part of the show. Thanks to Larry and thanks to everyone that came to see us that mornin’.
A bit later in the mornin’, on November 15, both Jeff and I performed at the Back Room of the Branch Coffeehouse in Carbondale, IL. Thanks to all the families that attended! It was indeed one of the liveliest shows of the season!!!
On November 15, very early in the mornin’, Jeff and I were invited to share a live interview with Kathy Creed on WDBX 91.1FM, Carbondale, IL. We had a great time and we really appreciate the opportunity to reach out larger audiences through the magic of live radio!!! Thanks again, Kathy!
On November 14, Jeff and I visited Eastlawn Elementary in Rantoul, IL. I actually visited them two weeks earlier when I performed at Pleasant Acres… I just got confused on where I was supposed to be that day, LOL! : ) We made a lot of new friends and we are looking forward to coming back!!! Thanks again for a nice mornin’!!!
On October 31, I had a lot of fun performing in front of a full assembly of little ones from Pleasant Acres Elementary School in Rantoul, IL. It was a blast to spend my Halloween with such a treat!
You may not be able to see very well, but on the first pic I am actually wearing my full Halloween costume with a blue wig! However, I had such a warm welcome in the gym that the wig had to go in the middle of the show! I didn’t give up my cape, though… It was a present from Mindy (and her grandpa). Ya’ll should ask Jeff Mondak about her, she is one of the characters in his poems…
After my live performance during Grandpa Stark’s show, I performed with Jeff Mondak at Hartford Coffee Company, a few blocks away from the radio station. Jeff and took on the stage to deliver poems, music and lots of fun!!! We also chat with the people that attended the show after the performance and signed books and CDs.
Thanks to Hartford Coffee for hosting us and I’m already looking forward to being back there soon, so we can sing together again!
On October 25, I performed live at the Musical Merry Go ‘Round Radio Show hosted by Grandfather Stark, KDHX (88.1FM), St. Louis, MO. Thanks to Grandpa Stark for the invitation!!! It was simply awesome!!! Here’s the link to the radio station website so you can listen live to this show every Saturday morning. Hopefully, grandpa Stark will keep airing some of my music there… http://kdhx.org/
Here are a couple pictures from the live radio session:
On April 24, 2008, I was traveling with my good friend Jeff Mondak to Baltimore, MD, for a children’s poetry and music presentation. We had a long layover at the Philly Airport and almost about to board our flight we ran into a very sweet kid (of Mexican descent by the way) whose eyes could not stop looking at my guitar case with so much curiosity… So, what could a crazy Mexican singer do? Nothing else but to start strumming right there!!! Yep, so there I was singing a few of Jeff’s tunes such as “Thoughts on a Rainy Day” and “The Toy Box Ate My Brother”!!! A few minutes later, some fellow passengers were singing along with me “Michael Closed the Bathroom Door.” In the meantime, Laura Pachucki (another passenger on the same flight to Baltimore), talented photographer and digital media artist, spontaneously took some pictures of the scene. The picture below is among my favorites and decided to share with ya’ll!
